Beer lovers everywhere have finally discovered the secret gem hidden in Forsyth County. Cherry Street Brewing Co-Op was named Grand National Champion of the 2017 U.S. Open Beer Championship with six of the brewery’s beers winning medals. After coming in fifth place last year Cherry Street is beyond proud to have snagged the first-place position this year. Cherry Street Brewing owner, Nick Tanner said, “This win is just a huge honor for us. We’re really just proud of what we do: my team, the brewers, they work really, really hard, and it’s one of those pats on the back that was unexpected.”
The Ohio-based competition is in its 9th year and judged over 6,000 different beers. Beers varied into more than 100 different styles. In the past big-name breweries such as Ballast Point Brewing Co. and SweetWater Brewing Company have won. Cheery Street is proud to be ranked among the best brewery’s in the nation. They take pride in the variety of brews that are offered. Ranging from basic IPA’s to seasonal brews that you don’t want to miss. Cherry Street had 3 beers awarded gold medals.
